Before & After Quote-to-Layout Sync (Coming Soon)
Before
- ❌ Building the quote in one tool, then starting the floor plan from scratch in another
- ❌ Manually recreating the same items twice - once in the quote, once on the canvas
- ❌ Getting the tent size wrong on the layout because it was entered differently in the quote
- ❌ Client asking for a floor plan with their quote and the team spending 30 minutes drawing it up separately
- ❌ Quote changes happening after the floor plan was drawn - two versions, neither fully correct
After
- ✅ Quote built in GoodEvent Business - floor plan auto-generated in GoodEvent Layout instantly (coming soon)
- ✅ Every quoted item placed on the canvas automatically - marquee, tables, dance floor, bar tent, all to scale
- ✅ Tent dimensions from the quote drive the layout - no manual re-entry, no sizing errors
- ✅ Floor plan ready to customise in seconds - not 30 minutes
- ✅ Quote and layout stay linked - update the quote, update the layout from the same place
What is Quote-to-Layout Sync?
Feature coming soon. Quote-to-layout sync is the integration between GoodEvent Business and GoodEvent Layout that automatically generates a to-scale floor plan from your quote line items. When you build a quote in GoodEvent Business - adding a marquee, tables, a dance floor, a bar tent - those items are sent directly to GoodEvent Layout and placed on the canvas automatically. Office staff then customise the generated layout and attach it to the client quote with one click.
This feature is currently in development. GoodEvent Layout is free to use today, and the quote-to-layout sync will be available to all users of both GoodEvent Layout and GoodEvent Business when it launches.
What Exists Today - and What is Coming
GoodEvent Business already includes a basic quote-to-CAD tool. Build a quote with frame, clearspan, or pole tents and click a button - a basic floor plan generates from the quoted items. It is a useful starting point, and many marquee hire and tent rental businesses use it every day.
But it has limits. The designer lives inside GoodEvent Business rather than in a dedicated layout tool. Customisation options are restricted. Complex multi-structure layouts, unusual tent sizes, and detailed interior arrangements require workarounds. And the connection between the quote and the floor plan is one-directional and basic.
What is coming with quote-to-layout sync is the proper version of this - built inside GoodEvent Layout, which is a far more capable design environment. The quote in GoodEvent Business drives the layout in GoodEvent Layout. The two are linked. The result is a fully customisable, client-ready floor plan that is always connected to the quote it came from.
Amy, The Marquee Hire Company:
"The online CAD has literally saved me hours per day. Very user friendly, absolutely love this system."
The coming sync takes that time saving further - the layout starts itself, so the hours saved become even greater.
How Quote-to-Layout Sync Will Work (Coming Soon)
Here is how the feature will work once it launches.
Step 1: Build your quote in GoodEvent Business as normal. Add the marquee size - say a 9x20 metre clearspan. Add the furniture - 5ft 6 inch round tables, chairs, a dance floor. Add additional structures - a 6x6 metre bar tent. This is standard quoting workflow that GoodEvent Business users already follow today.
Step 2: The layout generates automatically in GoodEvent Layout. Every line item from the quote is read by GoodEvent Layout and placed on the canvas. The marquee footprint appears at the correct dimensions. The tables are placed inside. The dance floor is positioned. The bar tent sits alongside. All to scale. All based on exactly what was quoted.
Step 3: Customise the layout to make it client-ready. The auto-generated layout is your starting point, not your finished product. Move the tables into the arrangement that works best. Reposition the dance floor. Add labels and annotations. Adjust spacing. Use all the drag-and-drop design tools in GoodEvent Layout to get it looking right. This is where your knowledge of the site and the client comes in.
Step 4: Attach the finished layout to the quote with one click. When the layout is ready, send it back to GoodEvent Business and attach it directly to the client quote. The client opens their quote and sees the floor plan alongside the pricing - everything in one place.
Step 5: Update quote, update layout. If the client changes their mind - drops a table, adds a stage, swaps the bar tent for a catering marquee - update the quote in GoodEvent Business. The linked layout in GoodEvent Layout reflects the change. Quote and floor plan stay in sync.
This feature is coming soon. In the meantime, you can create layouts manually in GoodEvent Layout today - free, no commitment, no design skills needed.
Why Separate Quote and Layout Tools Break Down
Right now, most event hire businesses build quotes in one place and floor plans somewhere else entirely. That separation causes four consistent problems.
Double entry. Every item gets entered twice - once in the quote, once on the canvas. That is extra time on every single booking. It is also where errors creep in. A 9-metre bay entered as 8 metres on the floor plan. Tables quoted as 5ft 6 inch round drawn as rectangular. Small mistakes that create big conversations with clients.
Version drift. The quote changes. The floor plan does not always follow. By the time the booking is confirmed, there are two slightly different versions of the job in circulation. The crew loads to the quote. The client approved the floor plan. They do not quite match.
Speed. Clients who enquire about a marquee for a June wedding are often talking to two or three companies simultaneously. The business that comes back fastest with a clear quote and a proper floor plan wins the booking more often than not. If producing the floor plan takes 30 minutes on top of the quoting time, it either does not get done or it delays the response.
Confidence. Not everyone on an office team is comfortable building floor plans from scratch. When the layout tool is separate and requires skill to use, the task falls to one or two people. Everyone else sends quotes without floor plans - and some of those bookings go elsewhere.
Joel, TL Marquee Hire:
"The biggest benefit of Good Event for me has been the ability to delegate tasks and focus on other aspects of the business. The team can access everything they need online from their phone or iPad."
Quote-to-layout sync removes all four problems. The layout starts itself. Anyone who can build a quote can produce a floor plan. And the two stay connected throughout the life of the booking.
How Marquee and Tent Hire Companies Will Use This Feature
Coming soon - but here is how marquee hire and tent rental businesses will use quote-to-layout sync in practice.
A new enquiry comes in for a summer wedding - 120 guests, evening reception, outdoor venue. The office team builds the quote in GoodEvent Business: a 12x24 metre clearspan, 15 round tables at 5ft 6 inches, 120 chairs, a 6-metre dance floor, a 3x6 metre catering tent. Quote done.
With quote-to-layout sync, GoodEvent Layout generates the floor plan from those items immediately. The office team opens the canvas, moves the tables into a room configuration that suits the venue, positions the dance floor centrally, and checks the flow from the entrance to the bar. Ten minutes of customisation. Layout done.
The finished layout attaches to the quote. The client receives a quote with pricing and a proper to-scale floor plan showing exactly how their event will look. They can see the tent, the table arrangement, the dance floor, the catering area - all in one document. They say yes.
For equipment rental and furniture rental businesses handling high quote volumes, the time saving across a season is significant. Every quote gets a floor plan. Not just the big ones where someone made the time.
Becki, South Coast Marquees:
"Good Event has revolutionised the way we work here at South Coast Marquees. It has saved us time, enabled us to respond quickly to prospective clients with a far more professional looking quotation system and therefore won us more business."
How Wedding and Corporate Event Planners Will Use This Feature
Wedding planners and corporate event managers often work with multiple suppliers and venues simultaneously. Getting a clear floor plan in front of a client quickly is a competitive advantage - it shows you have thought through their event, not just priced it.
Coming soon - quote-to-layout sync will let planners build a detailed event quote and have the floor plan ready to present in the same session. Walk into a venue visit, build the quote on your phone while you are standing in the space, and leave with a layout the client can visualise. No follow-up email saying "I will send the floor plan when I am back at the office." It is already done.
For corporate events where stakeholder sign-off is required before a booking is confirmed, a clear floor plan attached to the quote accelerates that approval process. Decision makers can see what they are approving. Questions get answered before they are asked.
What Makes This Different from Generic Floor Plan Tools
Feature Coming Soon - Built for Events from Day One
Generic floor plan tools like AutoCAD, SketchUp, or even online diagram tools like Canva or Lucidchart can produce floor plans. What they cannot do is read a quote from an event hire business and generate a layout from it. They have no concept of a 9x20 metre clearspan, a 5ft 6 inch round table, or a dance floor panel system. Every element has to be drawn from scratch, every time.
Enterprise tools like Cvent and Social Tables are built for large venue teams managing fixed spaces. They are priced accordingly - and they are not designed for the workflow of a hire company quoting different configurations for different clients at different locations every week.
The basic quote-to-CAD that exists in GoodEvent Business today was built for tent hire from the start. It understands frame tents, clearspan marquees, and pole tents. It knows what a standard table configuration looks like inside a given footprint. That industry-specific knowledge is what makes it useful - and it is what is being carried into the new integration with GoodEvent Layout.
The coming quote-to-layout sync takes that foundation and builds a proper, full-capability layout tool on top of it. The result is something no generic software can replicate - a floor plan that generates itself from a hire quote, inside a design environment built for event professionals.
What to look for when this feature launches:
- Auto-generation from actual quote line items - not generic shapes
- To-scale output based on real marquee and tent dimensions
- Customisable in a proper layout environment, not a basic CAD viewer
- Linked to the quote so changes flow through
- One-click attachment to the client-facing quote document
- Works for any office team member, not just the person who knows CAD
Feature Coming Soon - Access and Compatibility
When this feature launches, it will work across GoodEvent Layout and GoodEvent Business together. You will need an active account on both tools. GoodEvent Layout is free. GoodEvent Business is available on a free trial.
Access from any device:
Both tools work on desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile. Build the quote on a site visit from your phone. Customise the generated layout back at the office on a desktop. Share it with the client from wherever you are.
